Un-locking Setup in BIOS
I recently purchased an 'Off Lease' Dell GX 280, and would like to take advantage of some features found in the BIOS. The problem is I have been unable to Un-Lock the Setup; it is password protected.
Is there any way of defeating, or nullifying, the Admin Password. I would like to change the Power Management switch from its present setting of S1 to S3?

Laptops must be unlocked by Dell. You will need to call Dell and be the registered with Dell owner. This is done because of the large number of stolen laptops.

Not that I know of. As I noted, it's done as a security measure because of the large number of laptops that are lost or stolen.
This comes up periodically on the forum and ALL the responses I've seen say you must call Dell.
Something else to consider. On a Dell, if the BIOS is corrupted the ONLY option is to replace the motherboard.
