Unable to use Netscape Search

After days of trying to solve this problem it has been finally solved by a WONDERFUL DELL Technician. I was unable to use the Search window in Netscape 7.1, either directly from the Netscape browser home page(secondary browser in this computer) or by going into the Netscape home page through Internet Explorer(the default browser in this computer) He told me to search for all the files named HOSTS in this computer and then delete them. That did the trick right away. I'm posting this information just in case anybody else has this terribly annoying problem in the future. Everybody have a healthy and happy New Year! Amy.

That 'WONDERFUL DELL technician' may have just removed some security or advert blocking system from your computer.

Lots of ad blockers and some popup blockers use the hosts file to stop those from appearing on your machine. Use this advice with care.

As do some undesirable BHOs.
