You can leave Internet Explorer where it is and use what ever browser you wish or as many as you wish. There are a number to choose from.

Internet Explorer is an integral part of Windows and cannot be uninstalled. The entry in Add/Remove Programs only removes references to the program (note that its size there is listed as 0K).
