A few days ago I called Tech Svc as I had a problem with SP 2 and they had me go back and reinstall my system as shipped a week ago.  I then heard from Microsoft that you could use the add/ delete.

1.  Curious as to why you are going back, what problems

2.  If you do go back did you use the add/delete and was if a fairly simple process

Does anybody know if you do uninstall back to SP 1 can you then go to a restore point prior to the date you updated to SP2 and do a successful restore

There is an important point that you all have to consider.  Eventually your going to have to install Sp2.  Alot of the install/run problems come from the PC having problems prior to downloading Sp2.  So my point is, the sooner you figure out what is causing your problems with Sp2, the better.   It may come down to doing a clean install of Xp, but as I said your going to have to install Sp2 eventually to move forward with future OS updates.  Kip

I have been having problems with my computer freezing/locking up after the installtion of SP2. last night i uninstalled it, but my computer is still locking up.  I used the control panel-add/delete programs and it worked well. Sp2 is gone but i am still having problems.

After I installed SP2 my computer it locked up when I tried to reboot. I had to go into safe mode but when I tried to uninstall sp2 from that point it would not respond. I finally got the computer to reboot (I have no idea how). I went in and used the remove program feature. It worked! My computer now is working fine. I am going to pass on SP2 for a while.

You simply cannot assume that the problems that some people are having are directly caused by Sp2.   Since a majority of users have sucessfully installed with few problems, then you have to start looking at your PC as the culprit.   Could be you had problems you were not even aware of, maybe some of you did and ignored them.  Could be a piece of hardware or software.   But the point is, uninstalling it now and ignoring Sp2 is not the most prudent way to approach the problem.  You can't sit back and say I will wait for them to work out the bugs in Sp2 when the problem could very well be your PC that is the culprit in the first place.  As I stated previously, you really cannot ignore this forever and hope a fix is in the wind.  Sooner or later your going to have to deal with the problem and delaying it probably is not going to help you at all.   Kip

If everyone did that we'd all still be waiting for Windows 95 to work itself out.
