Unistalling Linux and installing windows vista xps m1730
hello i got a big problem my issue is the following i bought an xps m1730 with windows vista home edition my system specs are the following
core 2 duo 2.4ghz , 2gb ram, 160GB HD, Nvidia Geforce 8700m GT sli 256mb each so i lended my computer for a time to my brother and he decided to get rid of vista and install linux so he did when i came back i wanted vista back so i used DELL cd and formated the HD and installed vista but when instalind the new OS it gets stuck in the final phase where it says finishing instalation so i tought maybe linux messed up something in bios so i rebooted went to bios and made all settings go back to default from factory, them i formated the HD again and instaled vista OS and again it got stuck in the final phase where it says completing instalation if i rebooted the computer will just stay in loading windows and doesnt do anything else from there so i dont know anything about linux and i really want to use my laptop back i wish u can help me with this issue as soon as posible

During Windows Vista Setup you need to provide the Intel Matrix Storage Driver when you select the HD where you are going to install.
Download the driver, unzip it to USB stick and when selecting the HD click the link "Load Driver"
Setup will finish correctly

I hope you slapped your brother for doing that, because it was bang out of order - certainly without your permission :emotion-3: :emotion-39:
He could've dual-booted Vista and Linux! It would've meant deleting one of the four partitions first of course, but at least your Vista installation would've remained intact :emotion-43:
Anyways... since you've completely reformatted the drive (your brother may have done it anyway?), it's probably gone, but I'll ask anyway:
Do you not still have the 'Recovery' partition, because that would save you hours of grief?
