USB Broken
Hello,
Help! I gave my husband a Lexar 1gb jump drive that works wonderfully on his Toshiba Laptop, but isn't recognized at all on my Dimension 4600 xpsp2 machine. I researched this forum and found a common resolve in uninstalling the USB then rebooting and it would just appear and reinstall all by itself...I haven't had that luck. I downloaded the chipset and installed that too from the Dell site to no avail...
Now my USB printer and any other devices using USB are no longer working because at each reboot it attempts to install but says 'can't install this hardware' and in Device Mgr. they are just listed as "other device" with yellow icons...
What else can I try without having to reinstall the OS?
Thanking any and all comments in advance!

Go to this location and review the instructions provided. This may help.

Thanks but that didn't do much...When it restarted it finds the USB Controller but no software to install so it fails. Then it finds 4 'unknown' and searches and searches for software for them and doesn't find it.
I do have USB Host controllers: 24D2, 24D4, 24D7 and 24DE if that helps
The only thing that shows up in yellow is under Other Devices, USB Controller then under that 4 unknown devices in yellow.

I read the article, I installed printer software before plugging it in. This didn't help...sorry.
