user account not shown in safe mode

when booting into safe mode my account is not shown. there are 3 user accounts and the administrator account, but only the administrator and one oof the other accounts are shown.all 3 user accounts have administrator privileges. i am unable to get to the my documents folder on my account through either of the available accounts.  access is denied when trying to open it.  also the icons are quite large on the login page.  is this a resolution issue? how can i return the icon for my accountt in safe mode. it was there previously? I need to acces the account to delete a problem file that wont delete normally.  it says in use by another person or program, which it is not as far as i can tell. it also will not display properties.  right click and choosing properties results in no display of properties. spybot, adaware, mcafee and avast don't show anything when scanning it. anyone with any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm more concerned with the account access issue than the file, since I can always just drop it in the spybot shredder to get rid of it. running SP2 on Windows XP,dim 2400, intel onboard graphics controller 82845g/gl/ge/pe/gv, with graphics driver ialmmt5.dll.  thanks in advance for any suggestions.  jim

update--was able to acess by unhiding hidden files and folders.    Have determined that safe mode welcome screen will only show the administrator account and the first user account alphabetically. can access all three by renaming them to be earlier in the alphabet. tried "Dell Chat" got nothing but a link to a totally irrelavent document.  tried Dell e-mail support--got the usual "reinstall windows" folowed by  "user accounts must be corrupt--delete them"--they are not-all 3 work just fine--- folowed by on third try an arrogant " i only support dell installed hardware and operating systems--call the paid phone support"---yeh ,  like anyone in thier right mind would pay for the totally lousy phone support---and i have a three year service contract anyhow!   anyway this is obviously an issue of a setting somewhere that has been changed some how. if anyone has any idea where the setting is i would appreciate the information.  also any e-mail addresses for actual U.S. based customer service so i can file a complaint about the  poor support service would help too.
thanks ---  jim
