video editing in Vista

Question

Hello        I do alot of video editing but mainly on PCs. I have used Premiere & Vegas with XP but now am having problems with Vista. Well some...as I can install Vegas but cannot get Vegas to detect the camera except for the one on the laptop. Not sure if its a vista problem yet BUT can anyone suggest what is the best editing program around that has no issues with Vista. I need a good professional program and not Windows movie maker and alike. Anyway, thanks for your help. system XPS 1530 3Gb ram 1.66 duo.   Thanks

I use ULEAD Video Studio 11 Plus.... It's not Premiere but it's alot cheaper and I dont have any problems running it on Vista. Also, it's much better than WMM.   Col

I capture via USB to my dekstop as I havent got off my behind to get a firewire cable lol......Is reasonably quick.

Download the trial version.....pretty sure is fully working for 30 days. Cant hurt .... :smileyhappy:

I do some professional editing and Ulead might be a little small, but I could be wrong. Do you capture via firewire through a laptop or do you have a capture card with 1394 installed? My Vegas 8 only sees the in built camera which is impractical of course. Anyway thanks for the responce.

My cameras don't have USB..they all have firewire but If I can't get any results and before in install XP, I may give it a go. Thanks
