I have recently purchased a new computer for my company with Vista. All of our other computers are XP and I was going to just get the new one with XP but I was told that the only way to do that was to get a refurbished computer, so I did not. I was hoping that we would like the Vista program and that maybe we would upgrade all the others. Anyway my question is that with XP we could view and print all of our blueprints for estimating with Microsoft Office Document Imaging, a program in Office 2003, but with the Vista Business basic program w/ Office 2007 that program does not exist and I can not seem to find anything in it to print these documents (typically TIF files). I need to know if I am missing something in Vista or if maybe there is a download available from a previous version that is compatible and that I can use to view and print these documents. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I forgot to include that I can actually view the files with the picture viewer but I can not print them, every time I go to print it locks up my computer.
TIFF files should be viewable by just about any image program, including Vista's own picture viewer. Alternatively, if you have a corporate liscense for Office 2003, you can uninstall 2007 from the Vista machine and put 2003 on in its place.
It's there - probably just not installed (it is NOT part of a default installation).
You can add it by running the Office setup again and use the "add/remove features" option. Expand Office Tools and you will see the MS Document Image Writer. Select "Run from My Computer" and it will install.
