I bought a refurbished Dell Dimension E521 preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. After blanking the hard drive (including recovery and diagnostic partitions) and using Linux for a while, I am in the process of replacing linux with Vista. I used the Dell Vista DVD to reinstall Vista with which has gone fairly smoothly. Vista is installed but it does not recognize my Network Interface Card (NIC). From Dell's website I downloaded and installed Network: Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller, Driver, Multi OS, Multi Language, Multi System, v.v4.60, A02 which is file R149798.EXE. However, Vista still does not recognize the NIC. The device manager does not show anything for the NIC, no yellow questionmark in the list of devices or anything. I plugged in a PCI NIC card and Vista didn't see it either. Any ideas how I can get Vista to see the NIC so that I can use the internet?
