Probably not any earlier than Vista official launch which is either the 29th or 30th of this month.

 

Maybe Dell will start selling them earlier so that the system will be shipped by the time Vista launches.

Thanks for the information.   Yea I was sort aware of the date since I am a developer, actually going to a Vista event on the 29th.    Was thinking Dell would post some info soon.

 

The 29th is the arliest they can ship.  If you are a developer, you really should have an MSDN account, IMO.

Yea I have a copy of Vista release, but waiting for new hardware to install it.  I have installed it has a virtual PC but does not perform that well that way.  XP does not work too bad on Virtual PC but Vista seem to be slow.    

 

Anyway plan on buying  a Dim 9200 or XPS4100 with 4 GB RAM, RAID 1.   My old XPS Gen 2 works good for XP but think Vista would be marginal 3+ years old time to replace.   

 

 

Try Parallels for a virtual platform.  It is much faster than Virutal PC and I have no trouble running two virtual machines at one time inside the host.  (One Vista and one XP).

Asked that question my self and all I get is "They can't ship until the 29th."

 

So assuming they are going to ship systems pre-loaded with Vista on the 29th, they would have had to take order for them on the 28th or earlier.

 

All I want to know is THAT date.  When can I place an order for a system with Vista pre-loaded for shipping on the 29th.

Edit: Talked to a CS Sales rep and he did not have a definitive answer, but he has been hearing the 22nd.  Makes sense as it is a week before launch.  You may call and get a different answer.

One week would seem to make sense.
