Just curious, when does it come to you via Windows Update?

I think I read somewhere that it won't be available to people using WU until April, but it specified thse that have it set to automatically install updates?

Did you read the "fine print" MoneyGuyBK? :)

DO NOT CLICK DOWNLOAD IF YOU ARE UPDATING JUST ONE COMPUTER: A smaller, more appropriate download is available on Windows Update.

When I saw the file size of 434MB I knew that it wasn't for me.  I have downloaded many updates over the last few months, so I figured my actual download would be smaller.

So far each machine 4 of 5 (my E1705 still says No new updates available) only installed 66.9MB of the service pack.  So I am happy.

if SP1 isn't listed when you do a windows update, go to this microsoft link for the 8 issues that could be preventing it from appearing:

Downloaded and installed the even larger 726 mb 64 bit version, all is fine.

My Dell Inspiron 531 (1-08) came with Realtek Audio Manager version 6.0.1.5414 which shows as one of the non compatiable audio drivers for Vista SP 1.  Does Dell have an upgrade for these drivers?  When I checked their list, it's the same one I already have.   Or where do we update. Seems like a lot of recent Dells will have the same set of drivers. Thanks for the help.

As of today, LiveUpdate will show SP1 as an "Important Update" provided you didnt fall into one of the disqualifying categories.

Looks like the XPS 420s have one of the "problem drivers" for the Sigmatel driver.

Does anybody know if DELL will be making integrated DVD available for download?

I'd love to do a fresh install of my machine as opposed to patching it. (save on disk space and a fresh install would remove all the "stuff" that has built up over the year or so)

You might be able to use vLite but read the Service Pack Compatibility information.

I haven't tried this yet and I've read where it's not simple.

I think I'll take the easier route and do a clean install then apply the Vista SP1 file (5 language 32bit) I downloaded earlier.

Good Luck.

MoneyGuy...sorry for posting over you.  I looked before I made my post and just didn't see yours.

Dell is not going to give you anohter copy with DP1 integrated.  Download the SP and slipstream it into a copy of your own DVD.

I want to create a slipstream disk.  How do you do that.

A simple Google search will give you the how-to on the process whihc is not that difficult to do.
