Vista Ultimate ReInstall CD Question
I have a Dell XPS 400 which came to me with XP Media. I installed Vista Ultimate to see if I liked it. I do so now I need to buy it of course. My question is do I have to buy the Full Version or can I buy the Upgrade and use it to make me right so I can keep it on my machine. Do I need to uninstall this one and go with a completely new one or just go over it with the new one? What about a Dell reinstall Vista Ultimate cd? Think they call them OEM cd's. Are those pc specified or ?
As you can tell, I have no idea on this one.
Thanks in advance,

SpecialHugs,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Is the Vista version installed on your system from a Dell OEM cd? You will need to have your own copy of Vista. Dell OEM OS disc can only be installed on Dell Computers.

Thanks, I have the Dell XP OEM CD that came with my computer but was wondering .... there at the last of my thoughts above with installing Vista if a Dell OEM Vista CD that had not been used would work too?
If not able to use a Dell Vista OEM, would I have to use a Full CD installation or can I use the upgrade version to keep the Vista on my computer? I know that I need something so I can make this legit. Don't want any funky software ( or someone elses ) stuff on my computer ;-)
Thanks,

SpecialHugs,
You can use the upgrade version but I think the drawback from that is if you need to reinstall windows Vista you will have to first install WinXP. Then do the upgrade.

Uhhh . . . . . NO - actually you don't - see here. You guys really should get up to speed on the latest (and two year old) procedures before you "advise" users ! ! !
