Vista won't boot after repartition

Question

I resized the partition Vista was installed on to create a separate partition for my personal files, and now Vista refuses to boot. I'm still using the XPS M1210, but only through a Live-CD distro of Linux.
I suspect that the NTFS journaling, or some other file system-related error is the cause, since I used an open-source partition manager to resize my Vista partition. I still have read-access to the partition, through Linux.
I've tried booting Vista in safe mode, safe mode (command prompt only), diagnostics (from the BIOS boot choices), and booting from a system-formatted USB disk(from both a Windows ME and 98SE) to try and get into DOS, as well as the re-installation DVD and the Vista Anytime Update DVD that shipped with my laptop.

Try and use Vista disk Management Tool next time! It can also resize drives (just read they can) But anyhow I've read resizing is a very risky business!   Perhaps you did too many tasks at once. When you repartition you have too restart twice after the partitioning. E.g. if you want to shrink the Vista partition and add another partition, for safety precausions, you need to first shrink the vista partition, then boot up vista, and let it do a check disk scan. then you need to reboot vista for everything to be allright and then you add the second partition!   But what to do now, is a whole other question! It seems only way is to delete everything, but how is the question! well sorry mate these thing happes   (I thought booting from cds always works no mather what)
