Volume is Dirty message
I've been having a problem with my computer. When starting up the chkdsk program starts to run and it states that "the volume is dirty in NTFS". It goes through chkdsk and finds nothing wrong. I've run chkdsk using the /r command but it didn't help. I still have the problem with it saying the volume is dirty. I saw a message on this forum stating that the dirty bit may be set. How do I get this bit to not be set? Also, will making it not set actually fix my problem or will it just overlook it?

from XP, click start, click run. type cmd and press ok. from there type chkdsk c: /f /v
you will be prompted to schedule the scan the next time you reboot. press Y to agree and then type Exit to close the cmd window. reset the computer and allow the chkdsk scan to complete
