What to do with this

If I right click on my hard drive, there is an option to scan with e trust pest patrol even though I no longer have the program installed. Is there a way that I can delete the option?

2350,

Should be located in your registry in the following locations:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\Shell\Scan with....
or
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\Shellex\eTrust Pest Patrol

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Folder\Shell\Scan with
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Folder\Shellex\eTrust Pest Patrol ...

I'll need step by step instructions on how to locate those registry entries.

2350,

Click Start|Run.  Type regedit.  Press Enter.
Click on + beside HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
Click on + beside Folder
Click on + beside Shell
Right click on Scan with...
Click on Delete

If its not there, then
Click on + beside Shellex
Click on  + beside ContextMenuHandlers
Right click on subfolder that references eTrust Pest Patrol.
Click on Delete.

Same procedure for

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Folder\Shell\Scan with
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Folder\Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\eTrust Pest Patrol

Sorry for the delay as I have been working on other problems. Anyway, following your instructions, there is no shell or shellex listed in the registry.

2350,

Like you, I've been busy also.  Easiest way to find the Shell and Shellex entries I noted would be to click on Start|Run. Type regedit.  Press Enter.  Click on Edit.  Click on Find.  Type shell or shellex.  Click Find Now.  Press F3 to find next entry until you get to the registry keys I listed.  DO NOT change any keys other than the ones I noted.  Be sure to create a Restore Point BEFORE editing the registry.

Following your instructions, nothing comes up when I type in the whole command.

2350,

Ok.  Then try this.  Click Start|Run.  Type regedit.  Press Enter.  Click on Edit. Click on Find.  Type the entire command exactly as it is shown in your drop down menu.  For example, "Scan with eTrust Pest Patrol".
