Seems to be a known issue. You might want to read this rather long thread to see if a fix has been posted...

I had troubles installing Fix It, too. Don't remember the error message, but in my case it turned out to be a problem with the ZoneAlarm (free version) fire wall. I turned that off, re-enabled the Windows firewall and Fit It installed and ran. Don't know if that applies to your situation.

What problem are you trying to fix with Fix It? Maybe somebody can help you fix the real problem rather than futzing with Fix It and all its problems. :emotion-5:

Personally I would remove and reinstall each .net version there is... or... try the Windows Vista installation media to repair the image.

Boot from the DVD and goto Repair. Boot the system into WinRE(Recovery Environment) and run sfc /scannow because Vista is supposed to have native support for framework software up through 3.5 if you enable it.

sfc = System File Checker - verifies integrity of operating system files.

As far as FixIt software. They do not work that well with Vista and Windows 7 since they have the "Troubleshoot" tool that just about never works... .. fail MS... fail...

Try to find archived Manual fixes for those fixit items or describe the originating issue for the Fixit tool usage here. I did work in Dell tech support before. Microsoft's troubleshooter cost me 1 hour of troubleshoot time for an issue I knew how to fix manually.. I explained to the woman that I understood this issue and urged that I try this to repair her CD rom. I removed the filters in the registry and reboot. (CD/DVD Read issue - also an MS Fix It tool)

The manual fix worked but troubleshooter and fix it, both failed... fix it wont work because it says refer to the troubleshooter and troubleshooter is just useless.

I hope that helps out some! Let us know the results of your research and applied solutions.
