When will Vista Upgrade will be Up and Running?

I've been trying since 1:00 a.m. to get the upgrade for my newly purchased laptop.  They have me running up and down for a long time only to find that DELL has issues regarding the "overwhelming response" they have received for the upgrade.  Well, it was to be expected if they sold a lot of the upgrades with their PC's and laptops after October 26, 2006.  It seems that DELL should have prepared for the onslaught of clients attempting to redeem their upgrades at launch date.   Since excuses were invented, this one is not flying with me.  They should have prepared beforehand, and the only thing they have accomplished with this "delay" and "overwhelming response" was to alienate a lot of customers for their lack of integrity and failure to live up to their contractual responsibilities.  It seems that DELL has become indifferent to their customers because when you call customer service it goes to a contractor in India to handle, you are not even speaking to someone working at DELL, but with someone that DELL contracted to handle their dirty laundry.  The only thing you get from them is a whole bunch of apologies that don't resolve the core issue, which is the availability of their web site to handle the order, or simply take one over the telephone.

DELL behavior today has been shameful and appalling.  I cannot believe that a human being cannot take an order over the telephone!  If they had problems, the best way to handle this was to afford their clients to make their upgrade orders over the telephone.  There is nothing wrong with paper and pencil!  Just my two cents worth!

This is DELLs response to their "overwhelming response problems" posted at 8:45 a.m. est, now is 3:15 PST and obviously the "shortly" is turning into a "longly" wait.

"Due to the overwhelming response to Dell's Express Upgrade to Vista offering, response on the www.dellvistaupgrade.com site is currently slow. We are currently working to enhance the site's performance and should have this issue resolved shortly. We appreciate your patience."

Am I suppose to feel better? NOT!

I got my $3500 XPS 700 on Dec 26th 2006 and today Jan 30th, 2007 I went to get my EXPRESS Upgrade and the site is DOWN. The site came up for a moment while I was chatting with DELL CHAT so I entered my data with credit card info and hit continue and the site crashed. So did I order my Vista Business Pro or is it stuck in DELL limbo somewhere. DELL Chat said to call a 866 number but this forum seems to state that this is no good either.

Glad to hear someone's on to stage two of this battle for Vista, it still didn't recognize my service tag (purchased the computer December 11) and now the site says:
Please come back after 4:00 AM GMT Thursday, February 1, 2007.

If the main customer service number for the upgrade process ( 1-866-634-7426 ) is not able to help you process the upgrade for any reason,  please call Dell customer Care at 1-800-624-9897. They should be able to handle the upgrade processing there.

@fixmyhead....

Seriously dude !!!!!!!  Please don't make comments if you have no idea what I am talking about !!!

I can read perfectly fine thanks you.... As I have mentioned in my other posts, which I doubt you have read considering your response here, I am now on day 46 where the site does not even recognize my service tag !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget about redeeming the coupon and waiting for Dell to ship out my order.  I have made over 12 calls to Dell, spoke with over a dozen people, filled out about 4 escalation forms (at Dells request) and still squat !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one can tell me a thing and neither can anyone give me a satisfactory answer to what is happening to my escalation.  At this point all I want is the site to recognize my service tag number so I can input my details to start the redemption process......... I am not even griping about the so called 6 - 8 weeks it will take to receive my order.

So in future please ensure you know the whole issue before making any comments.

Have a nice day !

Hammer the site all your want, it's still 6-8weeks from January 30th, whether you put in your request october 26th at 8am or March 31st 11:59pm. The FAQ clearly states this at the top of the forum. Read, then post. Any confusion about Dell's policy/when it's going to ship is because you didn't read. Just go read it, seriously.
