When will Vista Upgrade will be Up and Running?
I've been trying since 1:00 a.m. to get the upgrade for my newly purchased laptop. They have me running up and down for a long time only to find that DELL has issues regarding the "overwhelming response" they have received for the upgrade. Well, it was to be expected if they sold a lot of the upgrades with their PC's and laptops after October 26, 2006. It seems that DELL should have prepared for the onslaught of clients attempting to redeem their upgrades at launch date. Since excuses were invented, this one is not flying with me. They should have prepared beforehand, and the only thing they have accomplished with this "delay" and "overwhelming response" was to alienate a lot of customers for their lack of integrity and failure to live up to their contractual responsibilities. It seems that DELL has become indifferent to their customers because when you call customer service it goes to a contractor in India to handle, you are not even speaking to someone working at DELL, but with someone that DELL contracted to handle their dirty laundry. The only thing you get from them is a whole bunch of apologies that don't resolve the core issue, which is the availability of their web site to handle the order, or simply take one over the telephone.
DELL behavior today has been shameful and appalling. I cannot believe that a human being cannot take an order over the telephone! If they had problems, the best way to handle this was to afford their clients to make their upgrade orders over the telephone. There is nothing wrong with paper and pencil! Just my two cents worth!
This is DELLs response to their "overwhelming response problems" posted at 8:45 a.m. est, now is 3:15 PST and obviously the "shortly" is turning into a "longly" wait.
"Due to the overwhelming response to Dell's Express Upgrade to Vista offering, response on the
www.dellvistaupgrade.com
site is currently slow. We are currently working to enhance the site's performance and should have this issue resolved shortly. We appreciate your patience."

If the main customer service number for the upgrade process ( 1-866-634-7426 ) is not able to help you process the upgrade for any reason, please call Dell customer Care at 1-800-624-9897. They should be able to handle the upgrade processing there.

Hammer the site all your want, it's still 6-8weeks from January 30th, whether you put in your request october 26th at 8am or March 31st 11:59pm. The FAQ clearly states this at the top of the forum. Read, then post. Any confusion about Dell's policy/when it's going to ship is because you didn't read. Just go read it, seriously.
