win 7 multi cpu's not supported
I have installed windows 7 64bit on two dual xeon processer machines.
one of which is a dell 490 with 2 xeon 1950 dual core processors and the othe a HP workstation with 2 xeon 2.8 dual core processors.
both machines under windows 7 reports as a single cpu dual core machine.
I would like to know if it is the version of windows 7 or does windows 7 not support multiple cpu's or is this a just a reoting glitch?

Hi
The {Home versions} of XP 32 bit Vista or Win 7 32\64 bit does not support any mother board that has two CPU,s the Home version will only see 1 CPU you can find more info here http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-812397.html if i read this right you have to use a Pro version up to Ultimate or Enterprise OS for it to see 2 CPU,s or more, the cores does not count as a CPU .

Currently I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) on A PWS 7400. Dual XEON E5405 procesors, each having 4 cores for a total of 8 cores, running.

I concur, you MUST have x64 Pro XP or Pro x64 or better for Vista & Windows 7 to see dual cores
