Windows 10 downgrade
My son upgraded our operating system from Windows 8 to Windows 10 when it was first available. It has been well over a month so we are not able to go to the recovery tab and select return to windows 8. What is the easiest way to return our system back to windows 8 now? I know windows 10 deletes the files after 1 month. Can we just get the discs from dell and reinstall or is it more complicated?? I would stick with windows 10 but I hate the parental controls. I do not want to create email accounts for my kids that are under 10 plus microsoft charges .50 per email to create the account!

You can create your own windows 8.1 reinstall media but it is a pain to reinstall and setup windows from scratch. Read all the directions carefully and choose the correct version of win 8.1. If the computer did not come with windows 8, you might need the activation key. Edit--you do need your windows key which is a problem with embedded keys that come on new win 8 computers since those are not available to the user.

Better to stick with windows 10 and learn how to get around or solve the problems. Try the MS Forum for Win 10--

Also an outlook.com email account should be free, also a plain microsoft account should be free. Are you sure you were in the right spot regarding these charges etc? I have not read anything about that and its somewhat concerning. If you want, just call dell tech support and (if you are under warranty) as for them to ship you some recovery discs. They generally will do so one time for free.
