Windows 11 "Boot failure on device" error at every restart.

Upgraded to Windows 11 on XPS 8930. After a few hiccups most everything working fine. However, on each boot up I get the "Boot failure on device" message. Then I have to hit "Continue", and the boot up sequence continues OK. A nuisance and a bit worrisome.

Bootup drive is SSHD, other storage drive ins regular mechanical HD. Boot from network options disabled.

If the error comes on Dell support assist screen, you can disable it on startup

  1. Go to the Start menu and click the “Startup” tab
  2. Uncheck all programs associated with Dell support
  3. Click OK and if prompted to restart the computer, do so.

Or remove the Dell Support Center in two easy steps:

  1. In the Start menu, go to Control Panel and click on “add or remove programs”
  2. Right-click on Dell Support Center. Click uninstall.
After that you will be taken through a series of prompts that will uninstall the Dell Support Center. You may have to confirm uninstalling the program by clicking “Yes.” If prompted to restart the computer, do so.

Don’t worry about not having Dell’s SupportAssist on your computer.

If you ever want to access SupportAssist — or any other preloaded program — you can always reinstall it from Dell official website.

In looking deeper into Support Assistant it seems to have some value for optimization etc. I think I will not remove it, and accept the extra keystroke on bootup as a tolerable nuisance. Thanks very much for the replay.
