Windows 7 can't use Outlook Express
I will probably be getting a new computer. It will have windows 7. I have been reading the 7 does not have Outlook Express. I have always used and loved it. Will I no longer have it? Is there a good alternative? I have many email accounts and outlook express checks them all at once. I have thousands of emails stored in my computer that are business related. Will I be able to view these files?????
Another question. I hate the idea of having to download and install all the programs I use now to the new computer. Things like Cute FTP, Audacity and many more. Does this http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Transfer-files-and-settings-from-another-computer
transfer things like that? As far as just transferring what I consider "files" (pictures, mp3s business files etc) I sure can't see why I need a "step-by-step guide" to put them on my external hard drive, unplug it, plug it into the new computer and move them.

windows 7 does not come with a email program so you have two choices, Windows mail or Windows live mail. Personally I like using windows Live mail and it has the basic look an feel of outlook express and i have several email accounts under my main log in just like in outlook.
as to your programs the only way will be to actually reinstall them. Because most end up adding registry entries you can not use the transfer program. Like you say it is for files and settings. not programs.

You can always download/install Windows Live Mail then import your old OE folder(s) click here

Yes windows mail an window live mail are two different programs. Windows mail came with Vista, to replace Outlook express. Then MS released windows live mail which improved upon windows mail. either way both programs are good substitutes for outlook express.
