Windows 8 Compatibility with Dimension E510
I recently upgraded my E510 to Windows 8. Now the system screen does not show the processor type, amount of ram or product ID. Also, I was trying to install a network printer and while it indicates that it is installed it does not show up in the Device and Printer screen. When I select print within a Word document the printer shows as a choice but will not print. Is it possible that the hardware and Windows 8 are not really compatible?

Performed clean install of Windows 8. All seems to be right with the world now. Thanks again to all for your help.

If Windows 8 installed and works, it's compatible.
By 'system screen,' are you referring to the Dell logo bootup screen?

See the notes here on upgrading to Windows 8, check for the errors in the device manager.

Check in particular Step 12 (page 104) to carry out the checks in the device manager.
Also run the Intel Update utility and ATI AutoDetect (if you have an ATI graphics card). Everything else should work on this system without need for additional drivers.
The printer however what model of printer is it?

The screen I'm looking at is the screen you see when you right click on computer and click properties.

Konica/Minolta C248 Printer. Tech support from the printer supplier could make it work. He was the one who actually said there was a problem between the software and the hardware.

Its a strange problem have you tried the Intel Update Utility, running Windows 8 and restarting your computer? Do you get anything in system properties after all that?

Ran the Intel Update Utility - it did not recognize anything. Reran the Windows Experience - no change. The computer has been restarted several times - no help. Ran antivirus/malware checks - none found. At this point I am lost as to why this is occurring. Thanks to everyone for their help and assistance.

Its a strange problem. I'm not sure what to suggest but if I was you I would try a clean installation of Windows 8.

Dumb question, but is it activated?
My old GX620 SFF is as old as your E510 and its System screen shows the CPU, memory and system type. (It's a 64-bit Pentium.)

Actually not a dumb question. It showed the information before I activated it. It was after activation that it disappeared.
