Windows 8 Isssues on M17x
Hello all, excuse me if this problem has been addressed already, if so can someone point me in the right direction. I have a M17x and am trying to install windows 8 pro 64bit Everything is ok except for a few little issues.
1. I have two "unknown devices" in device manager, I suspect that one is the IDT CIR driver as that is one of the few that would not install - Is there any way to findout what these unknown device are????
2. Bluetooth 370 card is not recognised, I have tried several 370 cards without any success - Although I have found a way around that by using a Intel 2230 combo card I'm still interested to findout if there is a way to use the 370 cards.
3. Every so often when doing a reboot (not cold start) I get a black screen as if the GPU driver is not loading (maybe) a complete shutdown is required and the system performs normally.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi AndrewSi,
Dell has not tested Windows 8 with Alienware M17x laptop, however since you have already installed it, I request you to do a Windows update which install all the updated drivers.
If this doesn’t work, I suggest you to use the legacy windows 7 drivers by using the below links:
http://dell.to/T9OHRb BIOS
http://dell.to/PGSgQq Chipset
http://dell.to/T9Smyk CIR ITE
http://dell.to/UyiJgf Bluetooth 370
http://dell.to/T9SVrV NVIDIA Video driver
http://dell.to/T9T8LE IDT Audio
If the above steps don’t work, please write back so that I can check what can be done.

For the Bluetooth don't use the Windows 7 driver instead use the following:
• For systems with Dell Bluetooth 355, 360, 365, 370, 375 and 380. Use the Bluetooth 380 Driver here: http://ftp1.dell.com/folder00865420m/1/
• For systems with Dell ST Microelectronics DE351DL Motion Sensor http://ftp1.dell.com/folder00951951m/6/
ST Microelectronics DE351DL Motion Sensor not for this model

Thanks everyone for your help, I've tried a Dell Inspiron 1702 WiFi/Bluetooth combo card in the M17x and it works a treat, has bluetooth 3.0, download speeds are 45MBPS+ upload speeds are 2.5MBPS+
So I'm down to the last "unknown Device" in device manage
The "Unknown Device" is a co-processor.
I used a program that gives info about unknown devices and it says a Nvidia MP479 (I think) driver is needed
I also think it has something to do with nvidia forceware drivers, but I have been unable to successfully install it completely, so the above suggestion is very helpful. Thanks natakuc4.
I will give it a try and get back to you with some results, thanks for your help

The above drive listed by natakuc4 will not install, I have disable driver signature but it will still not install, no matter as I have the dell GPU driver installed and that works fine, I just need to sought out the co-processor driver, anyone got any idea's??????????????
