Windows 8 won't load & laptop keeps shutting off

Not sure if this is the Inspiron 15 laptop or Windows 8 causing the problem.

Sometimes, not every time, when I go back to start up the laptop again, Windows 8 hangs after I enter my desktop password. It never loads, then the screen goes black and I have to start all over again. Just getting into this forum...I had to start it up 6 times before it actually allowed me on to the desktop. Sometimes I don't get pass the annoying display screen before the sign in screen.

I have tried adjusting the power settings. There is no "sleep" button on my laptop. There is one button for power and that's it. I've turned off hibernation, etc., and used default settings....no setting seems to makes a difference and the problem pops up randomly. I never know when my laptop is going to start right up or not.

I hate Windows 8 with a passion :emotion-12:. I've never had such problems and I'm pretty tech savvy. I'm the person everyone comes to for answers and I have no answers for this OS.

Does anyone know what is causing this problem?

I would advise clean installation of Windows 8.1 with Update 1 as its likely a badly configured factory install. See here:
