Windows 8.1 Pro Update Causing "SecureBoot isn't configured correctly" Watermark
Guys, how do I legitimately stop this watermark from showing up? I am booting with UEFI right now but Secure Boot is disabled (gray'd out so I can't even modify this option). I tried doing a Legacy boot, but this doesn't work...this just gives me an error about rebooting and selecting a proper boot device (I'm not sure why this doesn't work either, because I'm selecting it to boot from my hard drive in legacy boot mode). Also, since I just updated to Windows 8.1 Pro from Windows 8 Pro, I'm not sure why I started seeing this watermark, because it was not there before. Anyone have any ideas what's causing this and how to get around it?

* Open the Charms bar
* Click Search
* Enter gpedit.msc
* Click gpedit
* Under Computer Configuration, click Administrative templates- All Settings (right windows pane)
* Click enhanced boot configuration data validation profile
Is yours Enabled or Disabled now?

But if I reinstall windows in Legacy mode, is there no software to restore all my files, folders, programs, etc. from a previous UEFI backup?

Not working for me either Chris.
Also can't modify in F2.
I select, but it won't change the setting when I try.

No, I'm sorry but this does not resolve the issue. I can't change the option for either Load Legacy OPROM or Secure Boot. Through experimentation I found that if I go to the last page of the BIOS and hit set to defaults I can then go back and set those correctly and then save and exit. However, they are set back to the wrong settings after a reboot. This appears to be a problem with the DELL BIOS itself rather than a Windows 8.1 issue.
This needs to be resolved TODAY. If the UEFI BIOS doesn't work correctly then provide a BIOS update that fixes the problem rather than regurgitating the same set of non-working instructions over and over.

Do you guys know, if I were to copy my drive's parition as a windows backup, format and reinstall windows with secure boot enabled, and restore my windows parition, would I get rid of this watermark?

Hey Chris, unfortunately, changing this option to any of the three settings it allows will still show the watermark.

no you will always have the same problem
the only solution for systems that are not compatible vga gop uefi is to reinstall windows in boot legacy (tested by me)

I agree with Codebreaker. I can not change the option for either load legacy OPROM or Secure boot and believe this to be a Dell Bios problem.
On October 18, cnachtegaele did screenshots of the bios settings, which are identical to mine. The system mode is set to user, the secureboot is set to disable with legacy OPROM enabled and UEFI boot set. Secure Boot State and Secure Boot are disabled and greyed out. When changing to "UEFI Boot Mode, Secure Boot On" via the boot menu, there is a brief error on restart and then bios appears to revert to the settings above. In other words, you cannot enable the Secure Boot...
This is with a valid windows 7 XPS 8500 purchased (Costco), upgraded to windows 8 pro w media center, upgraded to 8.1 pro w mediacenter.

Agree with others as well that it's a BIOS issue.
I have a 7 year old Dell Dimension 9200 and installed Win 8.1 on that machine and have no Watermark as with my Alienware R4 machine.

Agreed. Dell, do your thing, baby...and I quote:
