Windows 98 to Windows 98se and Hardware
Ok, I have Windows 98 on my optiplex..I have just been givin a Windows 98se cd for PC's
without Windows.. Does anyone think it would work if i remove everything on my optiplex and install the Windows 98se cd? Or will it wipe out all my hardware drivers? This might be a dumb question but i'd like someone else's opinion on if I should do this or not. I tried this with Windows 95 to Windows 98 on my last computer I had and needless to say, I have a different computer now, but seeming as though it's 98 to 98se, I think it might work. Can anyone please give me there opinion?

A full copy of Windows 98 SE should install without a problem, but you will need to reinstall all your system drivers and your applications. Of course, you must to a clean installation--a full copy of the operating system cannot be used to upgrade over Win 98.
Back up your perishable data (e-mail folders, address books in e-mail programs, My Documents folders, your Desktop, Favorites, Web browser bookmarks, and any other data that has been created by specific applications) before formatting and installing SE.

Thank you for your input..one more question...What would be the best way to back up that? All I have so far is a floppy disk drive lol. Think that will work?
