Windows Folders slow to refresh (if at all)

The contents of folders do not change after renaming or deleting files.  I have to refresh my view to see the change.  Sometimes it will refresh after many seconds of waiting.  (Maybe it always does so, but I'm not patient enough.)  Haven't noticed any issue with create, copy, or move.

 

I've got the E1705 w/Core Duo and XP professional with all of the most current updates.

 

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
