For the McAfee firewall, open the Dell (or McAfee) Security Center. On the left side of that click on the Personal Firewall Plus to bring up the McAfee Firewall. In that screen see if the traffic light is green. If it is, then go down to the second paragraph in the left column...something like View Internet Applications, I think...and click on that. Try to find the Windows Media Player in there (you may have to scroll down the list). If you find it and it displays Access Blocked, then highlight by clicking with the left mouse button, then click the right mouse button and select Allow Full Access. Close the Security Center and you should be able to use the Media Player correctly.

Interestingly enough, all other internet activity works fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

My problem is slightly different and wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Whenever I open my windows media palyer 9 and go to the home page of media guide some of that page conatins html type text. Not all of it but some. When I click on the music, movies page within media guide it displays fine. The same happens when I use internet explorer to visit the same page at windowsmedia.com. The page still functions but I'm curious as to why only this page. This just started about two weeks ago and I haven't installed anything new (other than microsoft required automatic updates and live update from Norton anti virus). I've tried doing restores and also trying it in safe mode and it still appears that way. To check my internet service I hooked up mycable modem to a computer running windows 98 and no issues.
Any suggestions would be great.
