Windows Media Player

Question

I just purchased a new E510 with XP 2005 media center OS and tried to open windows media player. I got the message that media player was not installed correctly and needed to be re-installed. When I downloaded the new version 10.0.0 3646 and tried to install, I got the message a newer version was already running, which was version 10.0.0.3806 and 10.0.0.3646 which I thought was the latest version would not re-install or over write to corrupt version, so I am not able to use WMA, can anyone give me some help, I need to be able to use WMA. I really don't know about your Windows Media Player problem, but I can recomend another Audio/Video Player that can play WMA and nearly every other format out there. Its called Video Lan Player, Just google it, then download it.

did you uninstall windows media plaer before you installed the file you downloaded???... Video lan player will give you average decoding.... its not the best. i would try windows classic part of the k lite codec pack

it is as good as divx, and plays better than media player in the experence i've had

You can't uninstall WMP10 on your system, but the solution to your problem is to uninstall any hotfixes for it via Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs first, then reinstall WMP10 over itself.
