Try this:

1. If you have a Spyware Doctor, temporarily move the file ikhlayer.sys from Windows/System 32/Drivers directory to the Desktop, run chkdsk, and then put it back.

2. Launch Regedit and locate HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager.
Verify that the value of the key BootExecute - type REG_MULTI_SZ - is "autocheck autochk *" (without the double quotes)

i moved ikhlayer and ran chdsk but dont know how to move it back nor can i find the second file you mention on regedit so can i just uninstall spyware doctor for it seems that since i renew that is paid for a renewal that is when my troubles seemed to develop thank you for your help frank

Copy the file from the Desktop and paste it to Windows/System 32/Drivers. Then delete it from the Desktop. Or do cut and paste.

But you can just uninstall Spyware Doctor.

i cant thank you enough.as i just uninstalled spyware doctor and everything came back as normal.if you hadnt clued me into a possible spyware doctor problem ,i never could have fixed it .and i used the old doctor program for a year.they can keep my renewal fees .i just hope that no one else has the same experience as me .thank you so much frank

AdAware and Spybot are good antispyware programs. And they are free.
