Windows vista to Windows 7: Touch screen?

and i tried to re-install vista and it won't work on that now either

But now that i have windows 7, my touch screen doesn't work....

no it simply doesn't exist. when i upgraded it didn't detect a touch input, like i don't even have a touchscreen. i've tried re-installing the program but it won't work. When i diagnose the problem it says Touch screen is not connected. Reconnect the screen.

Did you install all the right drivers when you reinstalled Vista? (Be sure to select the right version of your OS at the top of the screen)

It wasn't clear to me from your original post if you have the Studio Desktop 1909. But if that's your system, it requires a chipset driver that has to be installed first before all other drivers for both Vista 32 and Vista 64.

If you didn't install the chipset first, download it onto your desktop and then reboot in Safe Mode. Double-click on the chipset file to install it and then reboot normally. Now make sure all the right touch screen drivers and software are installed.

Another thought...

If you didn't reformat the hard drive when you upgraded to Win 7 or when you went back to Vista, you might still have Dell's Image Restore on your hard drive. It will reset the hard drive to exactly the way Dell shipped it, but all personal files, any software and updates you installed will be lost, so be sure to back up first.

Even if you didn't reformat, I don't know if all your OS installations changed the master boot record, meaning Image Restore may no longer be accessible, but worth a try.
