Windows XP Home Edition Product Key

When I entered the product key on my Dell system, it sayed my product key was invalid. I used the product key that is on my Dell computer

well, i got a new hard drive. i do not have the Dell OEM CD.

Make sure that you are not reading "B" as "8" or other common typeface errors. Under normal circumstances you should not be prompted for a Product ID. Are you reinstalling Windows from a Dell OEM XP CD? If so, are you booting from the CD or allowing the CD to autostart from within Windows?

Contact Dell at one of the links in this post and request an XP reinstallation CD.

If you are using another CD it will of course not have the Product ID shown on the sticker on your computer. You must use the Product ID associated with that CD and you should be able to change it to the one shown on the sticker prior to activation using the procedure here.
