Windows XP logon music has disappeared
Hi.
My Windows XP logon music has disappeared. The logoff music and all other system sounds are fine. MP3's play fine. Everything else seems normal. I've tried reseating the sound card, installing it in another slot, and reinstalling the sound card driver, but still no logon music. I've also tried selectively disabling start-up applications using msconfig, but that didn't help either. (I don't believe this is a hardware or other software issue, rather I believe it's a Windows XP issue.) I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Go to Start|Control Panel|Sounds and Audio Devices|Sounds tab. See what is selected under "Start Windows." You may have to select the startup sound again.

Thanks, Denny. As usual, you're right on target. I went to Start|Control Panel|Sounds and Audio Devices|Sounds tab. Some odd .wav file was selected under "Start Windows," which windows could not find. I selected the startup sound again and now everything works fine.
