Windows XP "restricted site" is messing with myspace.com
I have a Dell Dimension 2350 running Windows XP, and everytime I try to access
http://www.myspace.com it lists this website as a "restricted" website. I can't log on to it. I have no problem with my laptop accessing this website. It uses Windows 2000 Professional. There must be some way to fix this problem with my Dell Dimension. I'd appreciate any help in helping me access this website. I've tried to change the security settings under the restricted zone, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I checked all the sites listed under restricted, and myspace.com isn't even on there from what I can tell. I also took down the Windows Firewall to see if that was the problem...and nothing......HELP!!!!!!....

IE/Tools/Internet Options/Security
Click "Trusted Sites" at top
Then click "Sites" and add it here

Please do not make any changes to this file. Just check it as follows
Open your hosts file in Notepad. It should look something like this when you open it:
# Copyright (c) 1998 Microsoft Corp.
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP stack for Windows98
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
# For example:
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
Normally there is nothing after
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 websitenamehere (myspace)

I downloaded Mozilla Foxfire Web browser and made it the default browser. I don't have a problem with myspace.com anymore. It has to be something wrong with Internet Explorer 6 and 7 on Windows XP. I would prefer to use IE 7, but this temporarily solves the problem.
I couldn't add myspace.com to my trusted sites because it came back that it was on the restricted site list.....so I went back to the restricted sites list and I'll be dmnd, but it's NOT there....go figure.

Last idea then
Check the registry, but be careful
First, just check this key and see if myspace is in the list
Start/Run and type in
regedit Click OK
Then navigate (click the + signs) to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\myspace
If you see myspace in the left hand column, click it and see what appears in the right pane.
If the value is 4 it is restricted.
I think trusted is 2
