Windows XP upgrade

I'm planning on upgrading to Windows XP from Windows Me.  It looks like like more trouble than I thought it would be .. Is it worth the hassle?

Jtfbuilder,

Did you attempt the upgrade?  I have been trying on my Dell Dimension L1000r for a week with big trouble?  What's your experience?

I upgraded my Inspiron 5000 from Windows 98SE to XP and my function keys quit working.  I asked Dell if they had any thoughts and they didn't offer any help other than to tell me they weren't supporting an operating system upgrade for that model.

I have tried the quick upgrade to XP unsuccessfully.  Today, after some very good advice and directions from this forum (other posts) I'm going for a complete installation.  I have gotten the clear sense from Dell that a new computer is the best option!

Have not tried yet.  Still researching and trying to find out what drivers, etc. I need.
