Wireless stopped working in vista
Specs: Dell Inspison 6400, 1gb ram,Windows VISTA, Intel wireless, broadcom network controller.
I upgraded from xp to vista only to find that my wi-fi(wireless network) wont work anymore.Even wired ADSL stopped working apparently due to windows update(it installed wrong drivers as some webpages said after i googled it). But i reinstalled my previous drivers to get the wired adsl to work but wireless still not working.It connects to the wireless network but says that the network is only local whereas that was not the case with xp. I checked my firewall too. the problem seems to lie elsewhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Could you please give your DSL provider, and the model of your DSL modem. Is the wireless router built into the modem, or is it a separate wireless router (make and model)? Please note that Vista can be really finicky with some wireless configurations, whereas XP would work just fine.
Basic troubleshooting procedure would be as follows:
Disconnect everything.
Plug in modem. Wait for it to come ready.
Connect modem's Ethernet jack to the wireless router's WAN jack.
Power on the wireless router.
Whether you have WEP enabled or not on the wireless router, the procedure described here should help you set up a manual network connection with Vista:

Obviously, you will need to enter your network name, type of security, passphrase, etc.
I can tell you that I've had numerous hard-wired and wireless networks that had to be reconfigured before Vista machines could access the Internet. Vista's built-in security definitely will not work with some network configurations.
