XP Pro 64 bit on Latitude D620?

Question

Hello,   I recently bought DELL Latitude D620 which has Intel Core 2 Duo (T7200) processor with pre-installed Windows XP Pro 32 bit. Now, i recently got XP Pro 64-bit from a friend just to test and see the system performance difference between 32 bit and 64 bit XP Pro operating systems. The initial DOS based installation went on smoothly and i am now stuck at the point where i have to enter the Serial Key. Here i am getting error message saying that Serial Key is invalid, though it is a valid one.   Anybody else faced this same particular issue? And how do i proceed from this screen onwards? You see the error during the install? You do know this is illegal, right?

You need to buy a Windows XP Professional x64 license. If you just want to try it out, go to Microsoft's website and download a 6-month free trial ISO image, burn it to a CD-ROM and then install it. They will provide you with a product key good for six months.

If this is a retail copy (non-OEM) then just call Microsoft and buy another key.  If this is an OEM copy, it can never be transferred for any reason.   All that being said, are you sure you have the right key?  There are several utilities to find the correct 25 digit product key.

As long as i use it within the allowed trial period, it should still be legal. Anyways, the other reason why i had to use my friends 64bit OS was that because the Microsoft servers seems to be down since yesterday and i can't get to the download page. See if you can find any luck and send me the direct link to the trial version:   http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/facts/trial.mspx   And even if i download this my problem would still remain the same i guess. I would be stuck again at the window where it asks for the serial key!!

I am not sure if the problem was with the key or something else. Anyhow, i managed to get the trial edition from www.microsoft.com and have installed it successfully without any problems. Now, i am looking for my video card drivers. Could you tell me where can i find 64 bit drivers for nVidia Quadro nvs 110m graphics adapter? I already checked the nVidia and DELL support website and they do not offer drivers for this one. Any other resource where i could find drivers for this graphics adapter?   Thanks,

Try http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64_84.26.html nVidia uses unified drivers so they have one driver pack for a class of video cards. michael

Thanks, but i already checked that link and that particular download doesn't support Quadro NVS 110m. Following link shows the products that are supported with that particular download:   http://www.nvidia.com/object/84.26_winxp_64_supported.html   Any other link where i might find??

Go through the list of supported adapters and find the adapter closest to your card and try that. I have a 3-year-old Compaq laptop and HP never provided x64 drivers so I went to nVidia's site and grabbed the unified desktop drivers and just picked something that was close and that's worked for three years with x64.
