Xp Pro Recovery password needed

Windows xp crashed when I boot up with cd and go to recovery I am asked for admin password but I never created a password so I just hit enter, after a few enters I get kicked out for using wrong password. This is the responce from Microsoft.

Windows XP was originally installed from a Sysprep image, or if Sysprep 2.0 was run on the computer at one time. Sysprep.exe makes changes to the way that password keys are stored in the registry; these changes are not compatible with the Recovery Console logon routine.

Note that the manufacturer of your computer may have used Sysprep to preinstall Windows XP on your computer.

Any ideas Dell? What info can I give to get in?I do not want to clean install!

littlejohnny2005,

I have not tried it, but this might do the trick for you. If not, reinstallation is your only option unless you want to make a major investment in professional password recovery.

Dell will give you no further info. Thats not a common error to get, although it has happened. I'm assuming you copied that info from a the microsoft article it was written in. Assuming so, follow their advice, it's one of hte only ways (if you require getting into the recovery console). Or simply do a parallel install backup your stuff and then reinstall windows.
