XPS 13 9360 -- 1.2.3 BIOS results in 'no boot device found'

Dell XPS 13 9360, previously running dual boot Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS. After upgrading to 1.2.3 BIOS, the laptop fails to boot. I receive a BIOS message 'No boot device found'. This is using AHCI for the drive configuration.

If I change the drive configuration to RAID instead (and nothing else), I receive the error 'Inaccessible boot device' from Windows 10 -- which isn't hugely surprising as it's configured for AHCI and doesn't have the intel RST driver installed.

I've tried downgrading the BIOS to 1.0.7 but received a message 'Incompatible downgrade'.

Any ideas as to why it can "see" the boot device in RAID mode, but not in AHCI?

@Community,

I've had a couple of customers test 1.3.2 and it's solved the issue for them.

Another note: If you're in urgent need of the new BIOS you can contact @DellCaresPro and mention SLN304879.

I can confirm that it worked for me, with 1.3.2 I was now able to switch my XPS13 with 960 Pro from RAID to AHCI without issues (through one time safe mode)

So what was the resolution to this issue because I'm stuck in not being able to restart my Dell XPS 13 2-IN-1 after I switched from RAID to AHCI.

The machine it's not even allowing me now to boot into anything it's just get stuck on a black screen after listing some sort of ROMs available and successfully loaded.

Please any help would be really appreciate it at this time!!!

Switch back to RAID.  If you have an NVMe drive and you are running an x64 bit version of Windows, you can go through the process of using msconfig.exe to set the system to reboot into safe mode.  Then reboot and go into the bios and change the SATA controller,  Save the change and let it boot into Safe Mode.  While there use msconfig.exe again and set it to boot normally.  Reboot and you are done.

Running a NVMe drive without an OEM NVMe Windows driver does not seem to help since the Microsoft NVMe driver is lacking..

Can someone pls share a detailed step by step on how to solve the issue on layman's terms? It is extremely frustrating to have an expensive laptop not work after less then 30 days and having to bring it back to dell....

OK so I have a Dell XPS 9360 i7 16GB RAM and a SK Hynix 1TB SSD NVMe PCIe.

I am trying to "load driver" for the SSD when the Windows Install tool asks "where would you like to intall Windows", because currently the drive is not showing up. The following boot settings:

UEFI Secure Boot Off, SATA disabled, Legacy Boot disabled, RAID on AHCI off.

The tool recognises the Intel Rapid Store Technology driver iaStorAC.inf but fails to install properly, and I cannot find any solution to this problem online. A I missing something? any help would be greatly appreciated. I am coming inexorably to the conclusion (perhaps mistakenly) that the drive is dead, and would really rather not chuck out a 1TB high speed drive because I am not totally sure what I am doing! Much obliged :)
