I have been running Windows Vista RC1 (Build 5600) for about two weeks now. Tonight will mark the last of it.

I haven't seen an operating system "freeze" up or be so unstable sense NT (sigh). However, I don't think it is the operating system that is the cause of it. I have a friend that purchased the Dimension 9150 with almost the exact same specs and he isn't experiencing any of the problems that I have. His Vista install was from the same installation CD that I used.

I can't seem to "multi-task" without the computer completely bogging down. An example of this would be simply running Adobe Photoshop, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Talk concurrently. This is something that was very responsive while under Windows XP.

Also, often times the computer simply freezes and Explorer crashes. It takes about 2 minutes for Vista's stupid message to appear.. "Would you like to ... Restart the program... Close the program, etc.". Then is takes another minute to "Determine the cause" after choosing close.

Is this a known problem with the XPS 700?

Even though this computer has that wonderful "Windows Vista Compatible" sticker pasted to the front of it Dell will not support any of these problems because it is RC1. I find it kind of odd that Dell can put that on the front of the case and advertise it on the site when they will not support it until the final version is released. Correct me if I am wrong but they had to test the hardware somehow?..
