XPS Gen 4 + Windows Vista RC1

Question

When I try to Install Windows Vista it won't let me it comes back and says:

"You must make the following changes before installing Windows

Close Windows installation and contact the device manufacturer for updated driver software for these devices:

* SCSI and RAID controllers GXC122P SCSI Controller

Close Windows installation, go to Programs, and uninstall the following programs:

* Roxio Backup MyPC

The following application/drivers are not supported in Windows Vista

The following devices will not work until the device driver software is updated. After the installation is complete, run Windows Update and check to see if there are any available updates for your devices. If this does not resolve your problem(s), contact the device manufacturer for updated driver software for these devices:

* Printers: hp photosmart 7700 series

Current versions of the following programs will not work with Windows Vista. After the installation is complete, get updated versions that are compatible with Windows Vista:

*Media Center Extender
*Microsoft ActiveSync
*Sonic MyDVD Plus
*ATI Control Panel
*Sun Java Scheduler

Now the Backup MyPC, Printer, and all the software is no problem as I can uninstall them... the issue is with the SCI and RAID are there any Vista compatible drivers or anyway to get around this?

I've never had to create a floopy disk.. Every time I do a clean install I just put my Windows XP Media Center Edition CD I got from Dell with my System and it installs everything.

All you have to do is make a floppy disk for your raid controller and when it asks for it put it in the floppy drive and tell it to update driver, just as you would on a clean install of any os.

Your saying you didn't get a resource cd with your drivers on it. If your running SATA hd's on a clean install you have to press F6 almost immediately upon starting install to install your SATA Raid controller driver. My comp is older than yours and i have to.

No my system didn't come with any CDs I had to contact Support and request them as they stopped shipping CDs with systems... Its stored on a partition on your hard drive and you just press a Key during bootup to install from this backup partition... But I requested CDs in case ever get new hard drive or that partition becomes corrupt... But never during a install from the partition or the CD have I pressed F6 or anything... And always installed just fine.

okay I was able to get Vista 64Bit Installed... Only problem is no sound no drivers for my sound card or atleast windows vista couldnt find them... I couldnt find any at support.dell.com I couldnt even find any for old windows xp at support.dell.com

hmm okay Vista wasn't working out couldn't deal with no sound... Went to re-install Windows XP Pro 64bit edition but it is telling me I dont have a Hard Drive... Where can I get the SCSI or Raid Drivers?
