XPS one 27 Windows 8 clean install issues
I’ve recently carried out a clean install of windows 8 on a new 256GB mSATA SSD. I also installed 16GB Ram at the same time. Although
performance is significantly improved I’m having major problems getting the some of the peripheral devices to work:
- IR remote - Doesn’t work despite installing latest drivers
- WebCam - Appears to be no way to install the software (webcam Central) as the ‘My Download’ site gives ‘Service Tag Not Supported’ Error (note this also happens in Windows 7)
- Keyboard Caps Lock on screen display – Not working, no drivers available on site.
- Other Dell software not installable due to the ‘My Downloads’ site error
The installation wasn’t helped by the numerous broken links from the Dell Driver download page. Their FTP site is also not kept up to date.
Can I ask if anyone else has had similar issues with windows 8 as I’m considering doing a fresh installation of windows 7 from the recovery partition and then installing Windows 8 over the top. I don’t really want to go through this procedutre though If I still have the same issues at the end of the process.

Please see here for direct links (although 2 are broken) and vote on the poll to say you've been having issues.
