RD Gateway - Sits on Connecting

RD Gateway - Sits on Connecting

Hello there,

I just purchased PocketCloud Pro, and am trying to connect to our RD Server (2008 R2) using an RD Gateway. When I plug all the settings in and click connect PocketCloud just sits and spins on "Connecting" forever... nothing ever happens.

I have played around a bit to try and generate some errors, and it looks like the problem occurs after authentication to the RD Gateway. This is because if I intentionally type my Domain password wrong, PocketCloud will keep asking for credentials. As soon as I enter them correctly .. it just spins .. never to actually connect me to my remote desktop.

Now, if I disable RD Gateway .. everything works fine (GREAT software by the way). That however, will only get me by for a few more days until we disable all direct access from the internet via port 3389.

Any help would be appreciated, I would love to continue using PocketCloud as I feel it's far superior to anything else out there at the moment.

I don't see any version number anywhere to give you, but I just downloaded it from the Android Marketplace tonight (12/08/11).

Thanks -> Also, we have about 20 tablets at our company that would all purchase this software if we get this working .. just a little motivation

Sorry you are having trouble getting connected, lets see if we can get this figured out for you...

First off, for future reference, the version number can be found by tapping the PocketCloud logo on the top left of the screen while in the app. If you downloaded it yesterday, it should be version 1.2.265.

Are you ever getting an error message when trying to connect? Any error message it gives you could help us narrow down where the problem is. Are you connecting over wifi or 3g/4g from your tablet device? You mentioned having multiple tablets, have you attempted to log on using a different device?

I am sorry you are still experiencing this issue, I am looking into what could be causing the problem and will post when I have more details for you.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the response .. yes it appears I'm running version 1.2.265.

No error message is ever displayed, it just sits on "connecting" with the spinning circle forever (well for atleast 15 minutes which is the longest I waited before killing the app.)

I have tried to connect over 3G,4G and Wifi .. and from 2 different devices. One is an android phone, and one is an adroid tablet.

I have checked the security logs on our RD Gateway Server, and it appears that it IS authenticating. I see a sucessful logon event for every time I have tried it.

Hope this helps ..

Great thank you .. I can provide a login for you if needed... I would love to get this working properly.

Just FYI, the TRIAL software "Xtralogic Remote Desktop Client" for Android works perfectly .. any ideas? I would much rather use pocketcloud

Thanks for the additional information. Make sure the option under Application Settings in PocketCloud for SSL Certificate Handling - Accept All Certificates is turned ON. Let me know if this helps.

Yes, I have tried with that setting turned ON and OFF .. same result .. i have pretty much turned everything on and back off again in hopes it would work, but always the same result...

I'm using a Self-Signed cert, would that be a problem? I was prompted to accept it the first time I tried to connect and after clicking ACCEPT I was never asked again..

I've also deleted all saved certs and tried again .. same result...

OK - I can now connect - for anyone else who has the same problem - it appears that the machine that you are connecting to (the machine on the internal LAN - not the gateway public address) MUST be a machine name, NOT an IP address.
A normal RDP connection using a gateway from a desktop machine works with either - and I had IP addresses in.
However I can use machine names - and now it seems to work - so I'm happy :-)

Would be good to get your devs to look at why it won't take an IP address though as I expect I won't be th only one caught like this

Thanks

Really sorry you are still having trouble with RD Gateway. Would you be able to set up a test account for me on your server and PM me the details so we can try to connect? Please let me know.

WP, what happens when you try to connect to your RD gateway from the tablet browser? Just out of curiosity.

Sorry for the inconvenience and I assure you we are working hard to get the next version out. We were planning on having it out by now, but with the holidays it has been delayed a bit. I am hoping in the next week it will be available.
