OptiPlex 3000 Thin Client Power adapter wattage not detected issue

Hello all,

At my organisation, I have two thin clients having power adapter wattage detection issue on boot.

The Error message show "Alert! A OW AC per adapter has been detected. The system can only boot with a 65W power adapter or greater" (bios: 1.0.2)

The Error message show "Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available" (Bios: 1.6)

The thin client can successfully boot into thinOS after click "Continue" and it might not have this error appear on next reboot/power on-off cycle.

Although I called Dell for service and waiting for parts replacement but I doubt this is hardware fault at one of the machine appeared this error just after firmware upgrade reboot cycle.

Does anyone face this issue? and how you handle this?

Thank you in advance.

I haven't checked, but I know in the Dell Micro Thick Clients there is a BIOS setting to ignore the check power adapter wattage. Might be worth a shot as a work-around?

Odd issue. We're running a number of OptiPlex 3000's and I haven't seen this before. Definitely reach out to Dell.

Thanks AtWrk,

I will  try turn off this checking setting at bios. Also, contacted Dell service and they will try to replace motherboard/power supply for my case. For my case, I have 4 machine out of 16 machine having this issue and so I doubt it was hardware issue.

It sounds like it may be a hardware issue and you're welcome!

You're on the right BIOS so you shouldn't be having any issues. Double check to make sure you're running the 65W power adapters they came with too. If you are then it's probably a hardware issue that Dell will take care of.
