Zero Client (T00X) Printer Pass Through

Question Zero Client (T00X) Printer Pass Through

Hi All,

Im currently trying to get some USB HP printers to pass through to Citrix, some work fine as there are specific drivers available on the HP website for the printer. Some however, only use the HP Universal Driver and as a result the printer is not passed through to the Citrix Session.

Has anyone seen this before and know what the fix is for it?

The printer in question is HP LaserJet 2055D

Looks forward to hearing peoples thoughts.

Cheers,
Lee

Hi Lee,

Not sure which Citrix version you are using but in XenDesktop 7 we set up a Citrix policy in Studio to map specific printers to the HP Universal Printer Driver. The mapping works on Driver Names so you'd map HP LaserJet 2055D to HP Universal Printer Driver making sure the names are exactly the same as the printer name shown on the T00X and the HPUD installed on the Citrix server.

Cheers,

Paul

I have not been successful in getting a USB printer on any Wyse Thin OS or Xenith client to auto create in a Citrix Desktop 7.1 session. Wasted 4 days trying to get it to work!

1. If the driver is included in the VM's image it creates the printer perfectly using that specific driver.
2. If the driver is not included, it simply does not create the printer. I'd expect it to use 'Citrix Universal Printer' as the driver. This is what happens when I log in using a fat client and Receiver 4.1
3. If you try and pass 'Citrix Universal Printer' as the driver through Wyse printer identification settings, the printer still is not created.

Using the Citrix Printer Driver Mapping and Compatibility Policy with the HP driver is a manually maintained work around (ugg), or installing the driver to the image (old school).

Wish I could get newer versions of the receiver in the Wyse Thin OS or Xenith.
