AMD Graphics Driver??

My XPS 8500 came equipped with an AMD HD7570 graphics card.

Currently running Windows 8.1 64-bit.

I am experiencing freezes and restarts, and Dell diagnostics indicates a possible problem with the drivers or the card.

On the Dell Support website it suggests using 13.152 ,A00 driver.

If I go directly to AMD it suggests 15.7.1 WHQL

Which is recommended?

Reboot and immediately press F12. Look for option to run diagnostics and run all of them, not just video. Copy error messages, if any.

If this is an OEM Dell AMD video card, I'd reinstall the one from Dell's site because Dell's OEM card may not be exactly the same as a retail card with the same number.  So start with Dell's driver, and you can always update to the one on AMD's site later on, if necessary.

Why are you still running Win 8.1, when you can update to Win 10 for free?

Thanks for your reply. The graphics card is Dell's version of the AMD HD card, and the version of the driver is the one from the Dell site. Error message from the full diagnostics show multiple failures of the various graphics tests. I'll re-run the diagnostics to see if there is any specific indication of the error. As far as running Windows 8.1 instead of Windows 10, Dell specifically states that the XPS 8500 is not certified for Windows 10.

If the video card is failing the diagnostics, it sounds like a hardware failure, not an issue with the driver.

Power off and unplug. Press/hold power button for ~15 sec. Open case and carefully reseat the video card in the slot and make sure its fan turns freely. Use some canned air to clean out the dust bunnies everywhere inside the case too. If that doesn't help, you might want to consider a new video card.

As for Win 10, Dell just isn't providing drivers for Win 10 for this model, but if you look around on this forum there are lots of posts where users are running Win 10 without problems. Win 10 will provide most -if not all- of the drivers you need for your hardware. Up to you whether to consider updating, especially because Win 10 will be supported long after support for Win 8.1 ends. And it's still a free upgrade...

You cant use ANY of the latest drivers because HD 1000 2000 3000 4000 5000 6000 7000 8000 series are END OF LIFE end of support LEGACY cards.

The DELL card is OEM not retail.

The specific driver is CATALYST 12.8.  8.982.12

CANNOT USE CATALYST 15 driver EVER.
