New Desktop?? Music Composition.

I current have to link both an old 2012 XPS 8500 (i7 16 gig)  and an 2018  XPS 8930 ( i7 64 gig) using 'INPUT Director' and joining them together with spdif ( 2 separate interfaces). and 4 monitors. I am starting to look at 14th gen i7 with more cores and hoping to increase the DDR 4 memory to 128 gig to replace an better my current system still using dual 28" monitors which are presently linked to the XPS 8930. My budget is around $2000. I would really appreciate any advice or recommendations. Sincerely, many thanks.

Dell's latest XPS desktop is currently the XPS 8960 with 14th Gen CPU and DDRRAM.  It only has two DIMM slots for RAM and the max is 64 GB.  Probably within your budget, but may not meet your RAM requirements.

Alienware R16 with 14th Gen CPU might exceed budget but still only has max 64 GB of RAM.

Precision Workstations currently only come with 13th Gen CPU and some may support up to 128 GB of RAM.

Optiplex currently only come with 13th Gen CPUs and may only support up to 64 GB of RAM.

You may have to re-consider your needs, a lower Gen CPU with more RAM or highest Gen CPU with less RAM...

Maybe you need to consider DIYing a new PC...?

I wish to thank both of you for your help. Regarding a 'self build' how difficult would it be? I am able to change a power supply/install extra ram and replace cpu thermal paste, etc.

On the other hand, maybe I may need extra cpu cores as currently the combined desktops total 4+ 6 with 80 gig ram. The requirement is for Orchestral Compositions, at present I have to omit certain instruments from the work.

You're welcome...

First, check the recommended hardware requirements for whatever software you have now or plan to use in future to make sure your new PC has what you need, whether you buy another pre-built or DIY.

There are youtube vids about DIYing a PC build, and it sounds like you have some experience working inside PCs.

You don't even actually have to DIY. There are companies that do custom builds to the buyer's specs, but you have to know what you want/need, and cost may become a big factor...
