Replacing memory module for XPS 8390
Current set-up: 4 8GB memory sticks (32GB total).
Various tests (including memtest86) indicate memory problem.
1) For compatibility reasons, do I need to replace all 4 sticks? If not, how do I determine what brands would work if I replace just a pair?
2) In the manual, the memory configuration "matrix" shows that for 32 GB, you need 4 8GB sticks. Does this mean getting two 16 GB sticks wouldn't work? In other words, is this "matrix" in the manual required placement, or suggested placement?
Thank you.

Typo above: It's an XPS 8930. Sorry for any confusion.

Any matched pair of ddr4 2400 non ecc for desktop only should work. 2x16 should work.

Thank you for your reply though I don't understand the chart. I did pull a pair of sticks and now the memory diagnostic test no longer indicates a hardware problem.
The pair that I pulled are each Hynix 8 gb 1Rx8 PC4-2666v-UA2-11.
You are saying I can just replace this pair?

If you pull the other good pair and reinstall the ”bad pair“ do you get the hw problem?
if yes pull one of the ram from the ”bad pair“ to test.
if both gave problem then replace just that pair
