Studio XPS 7100, S2721D, no HDMI signal
No HDMI signal error message even tho in HDMI 1 and set on that. Told this monitor would work w/my desktop. Hear sound but no display. Can someone help resolve this?

do you connect hdmi cable to onboard video port of IO panel? do you have a discrete video card? if yes you should connect hdmi to the video card.
if no discrete video card, you can test to verify monitor and hdmi cable work. you can do this by using a laptop or another HDMI video source. if this gives good video, then you need to test whether the PC can POST. because the pc has only one HDMI port for integrated video port, you can use a simple discrete video card to do this test. If the PC is able to POST from video card (give normal video) but no video from onboard HDMI, then you can suspect the HDMI is not working.

I do have a discrete video card. Resorted to on-site help which resolved the problem by simply using both cords from old monitor and everything was fine. I don't really understand what that suggests - that the HDMI cord sent with the monitor was defective??

The cable is not defective. The point is that the S2721D should be connected to the bottom of the chassis added video card HDMI out port. Not to the top built-in HDMI out port =
Bottom of the chassis discrete video card HDMI out port --> S2721D HDMI to HDMI cable --> S2721D HDMI in port
Also, the S2721D has two HDMI in ports, #3 HDMI 1 and #4 HDMI 2 =
So you have to select in the Menu- Input Source which one you are connecting =
